The newly established Tarneit Basketball Club was founded by a small group of individuals who saw a need for a domestic club in the rapidly expanding suburb of Tarneit. We aim to bring greater attention to female participation and retention in basketball, and secure credible role models of substance to engage with our male youth. We offer specialised support for families ensuring basketball is affordable and accessible to all; and provide access to quality coaching and administration to create alternative pathways for development. The Tarneit Basketball Club has a clear vision, which is to create a club administered by our community’s youth, with a strong female representation. We therefore established ourselves with the youngest and one of the few female presidents in our association; and entered seven exclusively female teams into our first competitive season (Winter 24). The Summer 24/25 season will see the club expand to twelve teams as we welcome our boys teams on board.
